Comics Pro Mailbag 11

It’s time for another look into the Comics Pro Mailbag, where we unearth some of the great fan letters from future comics professionals to their favorite titles, turning back the clock to the earliest years of the Silver Age.

“The JLA Mail Room” feature in Justice League of America #9 (February 1962) brings us a letter that demonstrates that, even at the tender age of 12, future illustrator Joe Staton was a master of snark. After making a name for himself with his Charlton Comics series E-Man, Staton would be working at DC by 1976, where he would draw the adventures of the characters that he gives his unvarnished opinion of here.

It comes as no surprise that Staton worked extensively with Green Lantern throughout his career, but apparently Batman’s “obnoxious personality” didn’t deter this fan from illustrating his adventures!
